Anita Jones and Arthur Jones - Married Beekeepers
Biography
Anita and Arthur can’t wait to make the Race their next big adventure. This energetic couple is open hearted and free spirited. They make and sell their own honey and recently purchased an organic blueberry farm. They have known each other for over 26 years and have been married for almost 14 years. Their blended family and children are the most important part of their lives.
However, don’t be fooled by their snowy white hair – they are no strangers to hard work. Living on a farm, they are responsible for maintaining their land, chopping wood and braving the hazardous conditions of beekeeping.
Anita describes herself as optimistic, enthusiastic and compassionate. She is running this Race in hopes of gaining insight to people and places from all corners of the world while traveling side by side with her husband. Her biggest pet peeve about her husband is that he sometimes over-analyzes situations…Anita believes simple can be so much better.
Arthur identifies himself as a problem fixer and hopes to gain a better understanding of himself and his partner. When asked how he and his teammate are most alike—Arthur says that he and his wife share a basic belief in the goodness of people.
This nature-loving couple is still young at heart, and they are ready to experience the world.

Oh, I hate to see them eliminated first. But they have a very happy disposition in life so that thing makes me little relieved.

THE JONESES COULDN'T KEEP UP. (interviewed by jocelyn lee)
The first team to be booted out of The Amazing Race 13, married beekeepers Arthur and Anita Jones, are avid travellers who love to explore the world.
The couple, who make and sell their own honey on their bee farm, have even taken their huge family of three generations, with three children and two grandchildren, to Italy for a two-week vacation a few years ago.
Other than joining The Amazing Race, the Joneses have also participated in other exciting events, one of which is climbing a 41m-tall tree.
But the reality show race that saw 11 teams of two making their way from America to Brazil proved tougher than the couple expected.
Mr. Jones, 61, who is in charge of playground maintenance in his hometown in Eugene, Oregon, tells Life! over the phone recently :" If we get to join the competition again, we will definitely run a lot faster and be much more assertive."
They blamed their loss on a long taxi ride from a Brazilian military base to a church to search for their next clue. The driver did not know his way.
Mr Jones says :" We were taking a cab to find the next cluebox and the taxi driver had to get out and ask passers-by for directions. That took away a lot of precious time."
Despite being eliminated in the first round, the couple are glad they joined the competition.
Mrs. Jones, 64, a retired paralegal, says :" We got to know people from all over the world and they are so friendly and nice to us."
Of the people in their hometown in Eugene, Mr Jones says :" They come up and tell us that we did a good job and that is very nice to hear."
