Biography


These charming southern belles are best friends and are up for any challenge. They want to prove to the world that they’re not just cute blondes and that they can be athletic, cut-throat competitors.

Marisa is currently a broadcast journalism student at the University of South Carolina. She describes herself as ambitious, witty and spontaneous. Her extensive dance training has taught her to be focused and determined, skills that could help her to do well on the race.

Brooke is fascinated with other cultures and can’t wait to try out some of the Spanish she learned while living in Spain. She works as a graphic designer and enjoys traveling, painting and being outdoors. She believes that her take-charge attitude will be enough to get them through the rigors of the Race.

She and her best friend are certain this adventure will make them even better friends. And if they have to do a little flirting along the way, they’re not opposed to that either – whatever it takes to cross the finish line in first place.

Okay, Shana and Jennifer. But I kinda like their dramas.

Hated to see them go tonight the cruelest elimination for me till now . They were as sweet as the colours they wore, I'm gonna miss them!

I hate to see that they're not in the race anymore ;(

They were very unlucky in New Zealand. They took the whole day racing. I guess what have happened to Aurelia and Sophie in TARA 2 is what exactly made these blondes so behind. But this was not shown in the show.

SLOW DRIVERS END UP LAST ON THE MAT (interviewed by jocelyn lee)

After taking part in the Amazing Race reality TV show, blonde belles Marisa Axelrod, 22, and Brooke Jackson, 24, realised that they had more grit than they though they had.

They were the fourth team to eliminated, and the women blamed their loss on their slow driving.

The two best friends, who met each other three years ago at a football game, sat at the back of the plane from Bolivia to New Zealand at the start of the race, and were among the last few teams to disembark when it landed.

Already lagging behind, they then took more than four hours to drive from the airport to their next destination, an hour more than the other participating, an hour more than the other participating teams.

Falling way behind at the beginning of the day eventually led to the team being booted out of the race.

Jackson, a graphic designer, told Life! over the telephone from South Carolina recently :"We drove really slowly as we did not want to miss a turn, and all the other contestants were speeding past us.

"We were driving on the opposite side of the road in New Zealand. It was difficult for us, it showed us down.

"Marisa and I did our best and we pushed ourselves very hard, so we were extremely sad when we lost."

However, joining the race has strengthened their friendship because they faced their fears together and stuck by each other.

They also picked up some baluable lessons in the process. Jackshon said :" We learnt that we should pack lighter because it would make running for taxis a lot faster and easier."

She is also determined to get physically fitter."

"That way, I would have more energy for the challenges if I get the chance to join the race again."
