Barack Obama elected as new president of US

Barack Obama, a 47-year-old first-term senator from Illinois, shattered more than 200 years of history Tuesday night by winning election as the first African-American president of the United States.

A crowd of 125,000 people jammed Grant Park in Chicago, where Obama addressed the nation for the first time as its president-elect at midnight ET. Hundreds of thousands more — Mayor Richard Daley said he would not be surprised if a million Chicagoans jammed the streets — watched on a large television screen outside the park.

“If there is anyone out there who doubts that America is a place where anything is possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer,” Obama declared.

I was watching it all live on TV and tears ran down my eyes when Obama was making his speech, don't know why, maybe because he had to fight against so many odds and it's such a big thing for the black people. I'm extremely glad to see him as the President of US And kudos to McCain too for the gracious concession speech.

I just get to know that barack obama, late mother divorce with his father and married an Indonesian. Then he got a half Indonesian sister who married to a Malaysian Canadian....wow....what a small world...

Oh, you didn't know that cam? It's from his Indonesian step-father he get his middle name "Hussain", and a part of his schooling was in Jakarta. Yup, Obama is a very 'international' man, and hope he's able to bring back stability and peace to this world.

Too busy with my work and too busy to read about him in detailed....

I just know he used to go to school in Indonesia.....but to know he got a step-father in this part of South East Asia and got a family member her too.....No wonder everyone is very happy with his winning....LOL

I want him to win because he is not a republican....hahaha
