Cosmetic surgery addict injected cooking oil into her own face
A Korean woman addicted to plastic surgery has been left unrecognisable after her obsession led her to inject cooking oil into her face.
You can see how she look her, I felt so bad for her..
Hang Mioku, now 48, had her first plastic surgery procedure when she was 28; hooked from the beginning she moved to Japan where she had further operations - mostly to her face.
Following operation after operation, her face was eventually left enlarged and disfigured, but she would still look at herself in the mirror and think she was beautiful.
Eventually the surgeons she visited refused to carry out any more work on her and one suggested that her obsession could be a sign of a psychological disorder.
When she returned home to Korea the surgery meant Hang's features had changed so much that her own parents didn't recognise her.
After realising that the girl with the grossly swollen face was indeed their daughter her horrified parents took her to a doctor. Once again the possibility that Hang had a mental disorder was raised and she started treatment.
However, this treatment was too expensive for her to keep up and she soon fell back into old ways.
Amazingly, she found a doctor who was willing to give her silicone injects and, what's more, he then gave her a syringe and silicone of her own so she could self-inject.
When her supply of silicone ran out Hang resorted to injecting cooking oil into her face.
Her face became so grotesquely large that she was called "standing fan" by children in her neighbourhood - due to her large face and small body.
As Hang's notoriety spread she was featured on Korean TV. Viewers seeing the report took mercy on her and sent in enough donations to enable her to have surgery to reduce the size of her face.
During the first procedure surgeons removed 60g of foreign substance from Hang's face and 200g from her neck.
After several other sessions her face was left greatly reduced but still scarred and disfigured.
And it would seem that even Hang can now see the damage she has done; she now says that she would simply like her original face back.

Man dies at Singapore Zoo tiger compound
SINGAPORE, Nov 13, 2008 (AFP) - A man was found dead at a tiger compound in the Singapore Zoo on Thursday, sources said.
Police said they were called to the zoo about 12:30 pm where they found a man, aged in his early 30s, with injuries to his neck and body. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
They would not say where the incident occurred but a source said it was in a tiger compound.
Police said they were investigating the "unnatural" death.
Spokesmen for the zoo could not be immediately reached for comment.

Re: Something really terrified that scared you?
Well. I dont blamed the White Tigers. As a wild animal it is their natural instinct to act that way if they are being provoke. He asked for it. He jumped voluntarily. Maybe he was under depressioned and intended to commit suicide.....but maybe suddenly realised how big the tigers were...he suddenly change his mind and called for help....but was too late

Yeah, it's not the tigers' fault.. He was poking them with the broom right? If I'm not wrong that's what made them agitated.. But poor guy, I think he may have had a tiff at work that made him really mad, so much so until he resorted to wanting to kill himself right there and then..

Oh yeah Ahdeng, I read about that.. It was in the headlines too.. Poor guy though.. He must have been really under so much pressure or he was so angry until he couldn't control his emotions and just lost it.. He cracked, and by the time he realised what a stupid move he had made, he was already right in front of the tigers.. Poor man..

Re: Something really terrified that scared you?
Ya lah...everyone blamed the tigers and the zoo for security reasons....but the man was the one jumped into the Tiger's den...and he attracted the tigers attention by making noise and beating the pail then poked the tigers with his broomstik....what was he thinking? was this a circus?
Who would have thought this man would do crazy things like that? I just felt for the tigers, the zoo and the dead man family....

Re: Something really terrified that scared you?
Sushi king, anyone?
Warning: viewer discretion are advised
This
is a true case of a Japanese man from Gifu prefecture who complains
incessantly about a persistent headache. Mr. Shota Fujiwara loves his
sashimi and sushi very much to
the extent of trying to get them as
'alive and fresh' as can be for his insatiable appetite. He develops a
severe headache for the past 3 years and has put cut off as migraine
and stress from work. It was only when he started losing his
psychomotor skills that he seeks medical help. A brain scan and x-ray
reveals little however.
But upon closer inspection by a
specialist on his scalp, the doctor noticed small movements beneath his
skin. It was then that the doctor did a local anesthetic to his scalp
and discovered the cause when tiny worms crawled out.
A major surgery was thus immediately called for and the extent of the infestation was horrific. *pictures*.
Remember,
tapeworms and roundworms and their eggs which abound in all fishes
fresh or salt fishes can only be killed by thorough cooking and/or
freezing the fish to between 4 deg C - 0 deg C. The eggs of these
parasites can only be killed if it is cooked or frozen to the said
temperatures for a week or more. Think twice about that raw dish next
time...or you might get a headache.

Re: Something really terrified that scared you?
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - A massive landslide at a hillside estate in Malaysia's largest city killed four people early Saturday and left at least 15 others injured, police said.
Thousands of residents were expected to be evacuated from Bukit Antarabangsa on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur after the landslide cut off access to housing areas just before dawn, a district police spokesman said.
Television footage showed several houses destroyed by an avalanche of earth and boulders. Police have cordoned off the disaster area.
"So far, we have recovered four bodies, and 15 people are injured as the landslide buried some houses. We don't know the cause of the landslide yet," said the spokesman, who declined to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media.
At least 160 police, army and medical personnel have been deployed to the scene for search-and-rescue operations, he said. No further details were immediately available.
Malaysia's Star newspaper said on its Web site that the dead included a 30-year-old mother, her 2-month-old baby and her maid. It said 93 people have been rescued while seven others were still reported missing.
Selangor state police chief Khalid Abu Bakar was quoted as saying that up to 5,000 residents would be evacuated because the area was still unstable. Some residents believed the landslide was triggered by heavy rain over the past few days, national Bernama news agency said.
Several landslides have caused damage in and around Kuala Lumpur in recent years. They are usually blamed on rapid development, deforestation and poor maintenance of drainage systems.
In 1993, 48 people were killed when a 12-story condominium block in Bukit Antarabangsa collapsed after a mudslide.
