Niroo and Kapil - India
Life is about taking chances and sometimes, having to learn fast when thrown into the deep end. For father and son team Niroo and Kapil Asrani, the latter cannot be more true, or literal.
As a child, Kapil wanted to learn how to swim and his father did it the only way he knew how, by picking up his son and tossing him into the pool. "The way my dad had thrown me into the swimming pool in order to teach me how to swim, it communicates a lot about the person he is," recalls Kapil with affection.
The good news is, Kapil managed to learn and the success fostered a great father and son relationship that has since grown beyond the familial, to that of friendship. In fact, one glance at Niroo and Kapil would conjure the image of two friends hanging out, despite the fact that the elder man, currently enjoying his time as an actor, is all of 53 years old. At 25, Kapil is less than half his father's age, but the HR executive has the same level, if not more of the enthusiasm towards the race.
One of the reasons Kapil wanted to take part, aside from seeing the world in the race format, is to bond more with his father. This probably explains why the duo has yet to plan on race strategies and would rather run the race one step at a time.
Explains Kapil, "Our strategy is to go by gut feeling and take each thing as it comes. If you are prepared for anything, everything comes easy." And Daddy concurs on this point. "We do not like to copy. We will cross the river when we reach there."
When it comes to challenges, Kapil has no problem with Dad taking control, because he is used to it, but not in the way you think. Outside of the family, the duo is also part of the same acting company, where Niroo serves as actor cum director, with his son as one of the actors. Notes Kapil, "Although we share a father-son relationship, we are more like friends. That's rare to see in such a relationship."
This act of following the father stems from the fact that on the one occasion Kapil never listened and allowed his overconfidence to take over, his actions "messed up a show", says Niroo. Those days are gone and Kapil has grown into his own as an actor, and his proudest moment as a father and director was when Kapil won accolades during a performance directed by Niroo.
Despite having a short fuse, Kapil is looking to keep cool under pressure. His strengths, he says, is to enjoy even a stressful situation, depend on his communication skills and rely the ability to think on his feet.
Balancing him will be Niroo, who despite his recent acting foray, is an engineer by trade. "My engineering background, my analytical skills, & my sense of direction are my true strengths," he notes. And if they win, the duo is also looking at the prize money to expand their theatre group. "We will utilise this money in building a theatre stage which I want to build in the name of my mentor," say Niroo.

well, this is a race.. you can't always expect other teams to help him.. besides, niroo can do it by himself.. see, he managed to do it without giving up.. he should have tried first before ask for someone's help..

iam happy he did it without giving up.... He asked for help...but no
one responded properly... so he has to go back to read out the info
again... so he is stressed again... after coming back he finished the
task... surely if someone has helped him the time to travel has been
reduced...
Niroo asks henry u promised me that u will help...
but henry gave his sorted coins to honk kong team...
i know this is a race... we can expect help from others... but niroo n kapil are really good... they have not hurted anyone...
in leg 2 after collecting the chicken and their way to the market,
geoff asks for the route to get into the farm where chicken were kept.
Kapil shows the way to Geoff. Geoff asked him again that are u telling
correctly... kapil showed them the correct way only...
if i was in the race surely i have helped them.... not only them even i have helped anyone.....

Re: Niroo and Kapil - India
I understand why Henry (after promising Niroo) ran away immediately without helping Niroo after finishing the roadblock but I also feel for Niroo.
When Niroo asked for help to Ida, Ida was also struggling to finish the roadblock.
When Niroo approached Geoff for help, Geoff said he has to finish his first but very much willing to help.
What I see is that Niroo relied from the promises so he was so upset when Henry ran away. But at least Niroo tried to finish the challenge. That makes him worthy of emulation.

No, Sprity. Niroo and Kapil were uncooperative to Geoff and Tisha in that chicken task in Saigon.

No i dont think so.... kapil showed the way to geoff.....
when geoff n tisha were returning to the market one team was making
their way to catch chicken. At that time geoff told tisha not to say
anything to the coming team... i think its a femal team who were
looking direction for the chicken farm......

Re: Niroo and Kapil - India
Yes, I agree that that was the mistake of Henry. And what makes me think Henry is somehow "bad" is when he chose to help Vince but failing to keep his words to Niroo.
But I also understand Henry since there is an obvious alliance between the two Malaysian teams and Vince and Sam.

I have to double check that since what I remember is a line from one of them saying they should not tell the correct landmark.
Re: quitting next leg. I won't blame them if they quit like what I feel for Natalie because the showor AXN is obviously toturing them. They are being subjected to over-fatique, under sleep, dehydration and everything. This show is pushing them to their limits.

If you pay attention properly Henry did explain why he helped Vince. He borrowed Vince pen to write. Without which he will be unable to do the task. So he simply returning the favour...he being thoughtful..

Hmmm Camomile don't get me wrong there. I am just giving a comment to Sprity. I have no issues whatever team Henry would prefer to help whether he is just returning a favour or not. What I am trying to point out is the act of promising a help which he did not honor in the end.

Re: Niroo and Kapil - India
i think if henry has spend jus a minute he should have helped or kept his promise....
i know its hard while we are racing.... we know when compared with H&B , N&K are not strong....
Its all about keeping the promise camo... Everyone has their own choice to help or make alliance with other teams...
i like all the racers....

Re: Niroo and Kapil - India
Yes keeping a promise. Henry passed the coins to Vince, because of returning a favour. Since this as some of you mentioned is a race Henry must be in a hurry to leave before other teams completed the task. When on the way down, Henry did shout out....ask him...I dont have the coins (if I am not wrong). Did Niroo took his initiative to ask the person Henry passed the coins to or at least take a peek as what AD was doing and solve it together? Everyone was stressed in arranging the coins. If Niroo be patience and wait instead of going to the last location, one of the team might pass him the coins.
Just like Farah said, Ida was looking for Niroo after she has arranged the coins correctly, but he was nowhere to be found. So whose fault was that?

Just like AD who took a peek at Vince coins arrangement after Henry passed him his coins. They solve it together. Remember when AD told Vince "lets switch 3rd and 4th".... Maybe Niroo should do the same peek at Vince coins and arrange rather than wait...not spoon feed...right??

Re: Niroo and Kapil - India
I also agree that Niroo should have waited for the other racers to finish the roadblock.
That is good to note Ida has really the intention of honoring her promise to Niroo. When she asked where was Niroo after she completed hers was a vindication she wanted to help Niroo.
As for Henry, still he did not fullfill his promise. When Henry finished his roadblock he ran away to Bernie. Niroo caught his attention but Henry did not stop to help him. Instead he passed it on Vince whom he helped.
Assuming Niroo went to Vince for help, still, this would not make Henry a man of honor. Still he did not do what he promised.
I have to ask you this Cam. Did Henry really do what he promised as help to Niroo?

Re: Niroo and Kapil - India
Which part did Henry really mentioned he said he promised Niroo?
After watching the part over and over again, I still didnt see or hear, that Henry mentioned he promised Niroo.
Niroo asked Ida, "Pls tell me, I have no idea". Ida herself said she also has no idea.
When Henry reached the place to arrange the coins, he said to those around him Vince, AD, Ida, maybe Niroo was there but unseen "I get it in a minute I will show you guys, alright?".
After Henry got it right, then Niroo just call Henry, Henry, and Henry said "Hang on, hang on, I owed Vince first, cause he really help me out, if i dont have his pen..........so on .." Henry passed the coins to Vince and told him to pass to Ida or whoeveer....
It was Niroo who mentioned "Henry you promised", but I didnt hear Henry mentioned the word promised to him??? But at least Henry did mentioned ask Vince (sort of)... and then they or rather AD passed the coins to other racers and so on....
Now assumming from what was seen, Henry didnt mentioned the word promised to Niroo...he said in GENERAL that he will show it to YOU GUYS not just Niroo....Niroo should be initiative and pro-active....
Dont tell me you blamed it on editing next? hehehe

camomile wrote:Which part did Henry really mentioned he said he promised Niroo?
Well, you have just answered your question.
camomile wrote:When Henry reached the place to arrange the coins, he said to those around him Vince, AD, Ida, maybe Niroo was there but unseen "I get it in a minute I will show you guys, alright?".
It was Niroo who mentioned "Henry you promised", but I didnt hear Henry mentioned the word promised to him???
Do you think Niroo will talk about promises if he was not promised by someone?
camomile wrote:Dont tell me you blamed it on editing next? hehehe
Don't laugh lah because editing plays a major role in the social responsiblity of media. For people who are working on television and who have been part of a production or for people who are studying about television, the answer is YES. It's a big yes.
For for people who are not working on television and who have never been a part of the production or for people who are not studying about television, the answer is NO, YES, MAYBE, I DON'T KNOW.
This is one of the reasons why we call television as an IDOT BOX. Because people just think within the limits set on what is shown on television.
I tell you an example, when Tisha was calling Allan's name while she and Geoff were looking for the mat. In your screen you have seen have heard and seen Tisha calling Allan. Then it was shifted to Mai and Oliver running to the pitstop. Mai was saying "Hey, it's here" as if it was the answer to Tisha's
Another example was the case of Paula and Natasha last season when they checked in third but was edited to look like they were last that caused their elimination.
There are are tons of examples of this kind of editing but those are just tip of the iceberg.
___________
Going back, still Henry promised to Niroo which he never fullfilled but don't get me wrong that I am against Henry. In fact, I don't blame him for not helping Niroo since they are competitors. They are in a race so I understand Henry. That is the trait of a determined racer who want to win. I am just very objective here.
The point is he did not fullfill a promise.

Huh!! I also said that lah. I said I can't blame Henry for not honoring his words because this is a race. I even said he has the trait of a determined racer who really wanted to win.

Actually Cam is not accepting that Henry really promised Niroo a help. Hehe
But I have nothing against Henry. In fact I like him as a racer because he mugs the camera every now and then and I am amazed how he say "Thank you". It is like "tenk' quioooooo" hehe

Re: Niroo and Kapil - India
No Jon you cannot prove it...
No PROMISED WORD coming out from Henry mouth...
I think Niroo just assuming.....so no prove to say it on Henry....I still stick to say that Henry DIDNT promise Niroo.....
Being an OLD MAN in the race, he was just assuming.....hoping for someone to help him or spoon feed him...
OMG!! Jon is making it controversial.....
Jon is indeed controversial forummer......

Re: Niroo and Kapil - India
I knew it Camomile. I knew from the start that no matter how objective we are, no matter how we try to explain it, you will never listen because of your passion to Henry.
But I will let you decieve by your feeling to Henry as long as I know I am right.
This I tell you though I am not supposed to tell this, I verified the matter to someone involved in the show and Henry did really promised. Henry promised something he did not honor!!!!

It's okay if you don't believe as long as I know I am not depriving myself of the truth. It's not my loss. Hehehe. Hmmmmmm
