Pinoy Idol - Can GMA make it phenomenal this time?

The idol franchise has been a phenomenal hit in every country that
acquired the brand, except the Philippines. When it was shown as
“Philippine Idol” on ABC 5, it was nowhere to be found in the ratings
list aside from the fact that ABC incurred heavy losses in its first
season.

Now that the local Idol brand is in the hands of a major television
network, the question remains: Can GMA make it phenomenal? The
possibilities are very high. GMA is now leading the ratings game
in Luzon, Metro Cebu and Metro Davao. And the followers of Philippine
Idol will certainly return in Pinoy Idol and they are certainly happy
with the transfer of the show. And with the wider reach of GMA, not
only nationwide but also in other countries because of Pinoy TV, Pinoy
Idol will definitely gain the buzz that it needs.

No question about it. Hard core Filipino Fans are either for ABS CBN or GMA. Too bad for ABC 5, they showcased Philippine Idol side-by-side Pinoy Dream Academy, which is backed by a giant network. With the PR machinery of GMA, Philippine Idol can be on top.

its very seldom that i change the tv channel
for GMA...but i think this Pinoy Idol will
help the network gain/increase the
number of viewers..good luck for the

i was hopin that Pinoy Idol is in ABSCBN.. but they have PDA there. i just hope GMA can give justice to the show.. btw, i dun like the fact that Jolina Magdangal is one of the judges... no offense but i dun find her great. there are better singers out there, achievers to be specific.

i actually am thinking about the same thing, krish.... There are better potential judges out there.... GMA network should have picked outstanding and interesting judges, coz they will be the pillars of the show and the stars(aside from the contestants) in a way... hehe although Jolina is also great, i would rather have a real diva to be one of the judges......

alam niyo, wag na lang kayong mangielam, di naman kayo producers ng show eh. besides, its their decision... so respect the decision of GMA.... i don't care who the judges are... I really like Jolina(she deserves to be one of the judges), look at PDA, is Agot Isidro great/good? I don't think so, ya... she's a singer, but is she amazing or whatever?!? No.... so don't judge her, watch her performance on Pinoy Idol first before you give a comment..... Pinoy Idol will be a phenominal hit... look how many people auditioned in this talent search.....WOW!!! record breaking!!!

Watching Mau singing in youtube, it gives me the impression that the first Pinoy Idol was popular and the contestants are great. But why you're saying that the channel should succeed with the second season? Please enlighten me.

the channel/tv network wherein PHILIPPINE IDOL(Season1) was shown is not a popular channel here, jon.

GMA 7, a bigger and a lot more popular NETWORK than ABC5 will host PINOY IDOL this season...so everybody are expecting that it will be a blast! Very Happy

1st pinoy idol, it was not a big hit, i think because it was shown in a not so popular tv station (ABC 5), plus it was shown along with PDA - Pinoy Dream Academy, talent show of ABS-CBN, that's why Philippine Idol, can hardly get high ratings, too bad
in philippines there are only two leading network ABS-CBN 2 and GMA 7, now the second season of Pinoy Idol and PDA are battling again in April 5, but i think Pinoy Idol will be a hit this time because GMA is the number 1 network today in the Philippines.

of which network ranks first with
regards to rating, but i think in
davao city or mindanao area
ABS rules...

but the biggest population is in luzon where gma is leading

one of the reason why GNA is leading in Luzon is because the reception of GMA is clearer than ABSCBN. ABS cannot increase their Power because of the regulations and interferences that it will cause to other networks.
