Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
No worries, Julsrum13. I am actually confused also but I have found out an excellent answer:
1. Actually, in Leg 6, teams checked in Blake Pier at Stanley in the evening of May 29
2. Deduct the 12 hour mandatory rest period, they were released around 7 am of May 30
3. Racers were in Macau and checked in the evening of May 30.
4. The racers should have been released again by morning of May 31 if we have to deduct the 12-hour mandatory rest period.
5. But Aravind, the Indian, blogger is very sure he left Hong-Kong on June 1
So there is one day missing, right? This could be the answer.
There was a 36-hour mandatory rest period in Macau instead of a 12-hour. It is highly possible since at that time, the weather is also bad. They can't do the bungy jump in the thunderstorm so instead of doing it on May 31, they did it in June 1.

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
Looks like there were no direct flights from hongkong to cochin, india.. Because according on this site:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochin_International_Airport
The intenational terminal(places) that only has direct flight to cochin, india are:
International Terminal
Bahrain Air (Bahrain)
Emirates Airline (Dubai)
Etihad Airways (Abu Dhabi)
Gulf Air (Bahrain)
Jazeera Airways (Dubai, Kuwait)
Jet Airways (Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, Muscat)
Kuwait Airways (Kuwait)
Oman Air (Muscat)
Qatar Airways (Doha)
Saudi Arabian Airlines (Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh)
Singapore Airlines (Singapore)
SriLankan Airlines (Colombo)

- Air Arabia (Sharjah)
- Air India (Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh)
- Air India Express (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat, Salalah, Sharjah)

I am also waiting the answer from Sprity.
So they did the bungy jump in the 1st of June in Macau Tower. That was Sunday, it's a weekend.
And from your finding, bungy jump on weekends starts at 10 AM.
You have also noted down that the first Helicopter from Macau to Hong Kong is at 11AM. So, Tisha took this flight and they were able to book the Cathay-Pacific to Singapore that leaves Hong Kong at 11:20 AM according to the find of julsrum13.
Now, whether the other teams took the ferry or helicopter out of Macau to Hong Kong, Tisha and Geoff knew they can only book the second flight which is Singapore Air that departs at 1:30 pm to Singapore. (if these other teams did not book a direct flight from Hong Kong to Cochin)
Can we find if there were direct flights from Hong Kong to Cochin on 1st of June 2008?
If there is none then we will assume, the remaining teams had no option but to book the second flight to Singapore that departs 2-hour later. If this is the case, then the lead is not only 2 hours but longer.
Yay!!

Another good point julsrum13.
So this means, all the teams except Geoff and Tisha had no options but to go to Singapore where they can book a direct flight to Cochin.
Sprity told us that from Hong Kong they can fly to Mumbai or Delhi for connections to Cochin. I doubt the racers will take this option since this is risky.
Now, we know why Geoff/Tisha seem to be very confident about their 2-hour lead. So they will be the first to reach Cochin.

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
While waiting for Sprity to tell us where he took the picture,I have another angle to show you guys.
This is the pit stop where Geoff and Tisha have had their confessionals
The background light is very bright, right? What time they checked in? Definitely not evening.
And they are very happy and smiling from ear to ear (LOL). Are they first again?
Why didn't they take this confessional inside the hotel? Is it because they have enough time? I mean the racers behind them are so far away?
Sprity, do you know the place?
And here is Fuzzie who is like lost in India. hehe
Compare how bright the backgrounds are. Is this the end of the road for AD and Fuzzie?
Thanks Banzai, I'll check that now.

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
Although I have already mentioned all the important details in my previous post, just to confirm, the
contestants were on the Cathy Pacific flight CX739 from Hong Kong -
Singapore that departed from Hong Kong on 1st June 2008 around 11:20AM
(Hong Kong time). And at
Singapore, after our chat, they booked the next flight from Singapore -
Cochin in Air India which was leaving in another 3 hours or so from
Terminal 2 (or was it 3?). Hope this extra bit of information is gratifying enough
According to the find of julsrum13, Cathay Pacific Flight CX739 arrives in Singapore around 2:25 PM - 1 June 2008.
According to the blogger, from Singapore Tisha/Geoff booked a flight that leaves after 3 hours. So, they left Singapore around 5:30 - 6:30 PM.
How many hours from Singapore to Hong Kong?? I think around 7 hours.
If it is 7 hours then Geoff and Tisha touch down the airport of Cochin at around 1-2 AM of 2 June 2008.
Oh, there could be bunching points in the airport. So we are not yet sure if Geoff and Tisha are first again.

Jk, I think there are no good flights or not all from Macau to Singapore. Anyone can dispute this.
And besides, Hong Kong and Singapore airports are busier than any airport in this region.

You are right Nikano if my explanation below is correct. Tasks in India starts in the morning of June 2 and there high possibility that other teams can catch them up in the airport in the morning.

So Geoff and Tisha might have arrived in Cochin around 10-11 PM of June 1.

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
Ok.. This is what I guess..
First:
We can conclude that Geoff and Tisha arrive first in Cochin. Aravind said their next departure was 3-4 hrs after arriving in Singapore at 3:25 pm.. So, maybe they depart there at 6 or 7 pm(singapore time) to cochin.. The flying time was 5 hrs. going to cochin..
2nd:
They can get in Cochin at 11 pm or 12 am(singapore time).
Take note:
Singapore time is advanced by 3 hrs. to cochin so they arrive at 8 or 9 pm(cochin time).. They can still do a task in that time.
3rd:
I think Geoff and Tisha finished the task (not a detour or roadblock) before the operating hours expired.. And after that, they continue the next task tomorrow morning.. I think that task was the "fish" for tomorrow morning...
4th:
The 4 teams cannot continue on the next task(Geoff and Tisha have already did) after they arrive at Cochin. Because it is already 11 pm in the evening. So they will continue it tomorrow before doing the fish..
Just my guess...hehehe..
I think Bungee jumping is a roadblock because Tisha was the one who make the bungee jumping.. Goeff has 4 roadblocks while Tisha has 2 only;, while the fish is one of the detour.....

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
Banzai, the "tuk tuk" is called auto rickshaw or simply auto according to Sprity who's from Kerala.
Thanks for the screencaps. I don't know why your avi file is not working in my laptop. I think I need to download additional plug in. But I hear the audio but I don't see the video
I don't think "Simon" is Henry. Probably Tisha mentioned "Sammy". They call Sam in that name also.
Julsrum13, thanks for correcting me. Yes, I forgot Singapore's time is ahead of India. So, Geoff and Tisha reached Cochin the evening of 1 June 2008 and the others might be there by early morning of 2 June 2008. That would explain the early morning shot of Fuzzie in the road.

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
The preview is already telling us the helicopter ride is from Macau to Hong Kong and not in India.
VOICE OVER: And a wise choice of transport will take them to a greater height.
***He's telling the helicopter
***We know that there are commercial helicopters that bring passengers from Macau to Hong Kong
*** Sprity told us that there are restrictions of the use of helicopter in India and I don't think helicopter is used as a mode of transportation there
*** There we have all the explanations.
The reason of another extra or additional task in Macau Tower is to equalize the teams. This is designed for whoever checked in last in this NEL who happen to be Ida and Tania

I guess the bungee jumping is too early for a roadblock. And we have seen them doing a roadblock in this same landmark with the mast last leg. They won't repeat it.julsrom13 wrote:Just my guess...hehehe..

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
These are another angles we might want to consider:
I reviewed the TAR 4 visit to Cochin, India and I found out this interesting point.
One of the detours in this Cochin leg is to load 10 chickens into baskets on a bicycle and take it to a farm. The other detour is to load 2 bales of coir on to an elephant and ride it to the coir shop.
Interestingly, this is kinda similar to this.
But this one is definitely a task that would only require the racers to transport the sword fish.
Also in this season of TAR (4) while they were in Mumbai, the Roadblock was to carry 20 Palai fish through a fish market to the manager.
Kerala where Cochin is located is the beach side of India so it is here where the fish supply throughout India is coming from.

Sprity, do you think this shot was taken there? Is Catamaram the name of the place also? But I know it is a boat as what you have said
No catamaram is the boat.... There is no place like that.... I think the screenshot above is taken in cochin only...
Two things are to be considered about the background.
1) The lake/river behin them...(Even Hong Kong has lake/river.. )
2) Kerela got More coconut trees.I dont know that we can find more coconut trees in Hong kong..... The leaves behind tisha n geoff represents cocnut trees....
In kerala most of the coconut trees are seen in the banks of the river/lakes...

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
hi ther... i'am new here... before this I only visit this forum to read the speculations that all of u been made... this make me interested to join u guys...
I want to share with u guys on what Mr McKay's comment on the next leg...
from http://amazing-race-asia.axn-asia.com/about/producer/
"Without giving too much away on the next Leg it will be testing for the teams.
And yes, I am sure you have picked up on the bungy (I personally
hate bungy jumps and don't understand why anyone would want to do it
unless they are racing for $100,000). I'll eat bugs, stinky tofu and
I'll happily do a flying fox and things like that but I'm not keen on
bungy.
Anyway, this next Leg is quite long and will also get a little emotional for the Teams. Hong Kong was fun but Macau was testing.
In this next leg the choices teams make will be crucial - more so than usual.
And, of course, the pressure will be squarely on Ida and Tania, no
doubt about that. It will be interesting to see how they handle the
pressure.
There is clearly no love lost between Geoff and Tisha and Henry and
Bernie after THAT yield. Henry and Bernie will need to put that behind
them and re-group this week.
A.D. and Fuzzie are still walking their way through the Race.
Amazing really. I think they have raced really well. Very consistent
and not many viewers picked them to go this far. So congrats A.D. and
Fuzzie.
Vince and Sam benefited from a home town advantage in Hong Kong. I
think the fast forward in Taiwan proved crucial because it gave them a
solid head start into Hong Kong. So it has turned out to be an
important FF, especially with Hong Kong backing into Macau. But they
might find it tougher now.
Enjoy!"
take note on what I highlighted...
- does this mean this leg is an TBC or maybe just like u guys speculate this leg will be played from 30 May to 2 June... quite long...
- I think Geoff & Tisha, Henry & Bernie and also A.D & Fuzzie will be quite ok in this leg based on what Mr McKay posted...

to EnterMyWorld, Al-Hfyz. We are happy to see your interest in our spoilers and speculations. Thank you so much. We hope to see you more often here sharing with us your ideas.
I want to comment about McKay's hating the bungy. I find it weird since I have read one of his comment before that if ever he finds an opportunity for a bungy jump he includes it in the plan.
Henry and Bernie are very competitive. I guess that yield will only make them more competitive. They hate losing so I guess they will double their effort this time.
As for AD and Fuzzie, their ambling style will bite them in the asses sooner or later especially that the 4 other teams left are all there to win whatever it cost. When it will be a footrace to the mat, this will be their waterloo. I am afraid they will go home next.
As per the TBC, we have an interview of Henry and Bernie insinuating a TBC. You can read it at the first post of this thread.
I have something in my mind, I come back to discuss this with y'all.
@Sprity, what is the place where you have taken the picture of a fish stall? We are asking you this since yesterday.

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
I have thought of another angle. Think of these.
Another angle to think about:
We have been discussing why Tisha and Geoff have a 2-hour lead over Sam and Vince as overheard by Aravind in Singapore Airport.
1. We have found out that there is a task first in Macau Tower which is bungy jump before they head back to Hong Kong.
2. We have found out also that Geoff and Tisha took a helicopter ride after the bungy jump from Macau to Hong Kong to Singapore where they booked a flight to Cochin. According to Aravind, Tisha and Geoff were on the Cathy Pacific flight CX739 from Hong Kong - Singapore that departed from Hong Kong on 1st June 2008 around 11:20AM (Hong Kong time).
3. We have also found out that the operation hours of a bungy jump in Macau Tower starts at 10AM on weekends and 11AM on weekdays.
4. The racers are supposed to be released from the pitstop in Macau by morning of 31 May 2008 but we have seen them in Hong Kong on 1 June 2008. This means they were in Macau on 31 May which we speculated as an extended pit stop or the racers had a 36-hour mandatory rest period.
If the racers are released from the pit stop on June 1 after a 36-hour mandatory rest period (since they checked in evening of May 30), they have to perform the first task at 10 AM on that day since that is the opening of Macau Tower. But how did Tisha and Geoff were able to get a flight in Hong Kong to Singapore that departs at 11:20 AM on that same date?
That is only one and a half hours to do the challenge and go to Hong Kong from Macau which I think very unlikely to happen since you have to be in the airport at least an hour before the departure.
Here is now the possibility which you can refute.
Could it be there was no 36-hour extended pit stop but the usual 12-hour? So, is it possible the racers are indeed released in the morning of 31st May, did tasks in Macau but were forced to spend another night there because of hour of operations?
So the bungy jump was taken in 31st May and the helicopter ride started in Macau at 9 AM of June 1? From the research of Julsrum13 and Nikano, the first helicopter ride to Hong Kong is 9 AM.
Anyway, this next Leg is quite long and will also get a little emotional for the Teams. Hong Kong was fun but Macau was testing.
~Michael McKay
We knew this even before. McKay and Henry are insinuating of a TBC, though we might be wrong with this interpretationSometimes you think it is the end of the leg and then no, we get another clue and realise the race is still on,” says 43-year-old Henry during a recent interview with The Star
But in our analysis, there are only 3 options left on how they have distributed the EL and TBC. One option tells us there might be a TBC after two consecutive NELs.With this we have three choices:
Episode 8 - ELIMINATION
Episode 9 - TBC
Episode 10 -ELIMINATION
Episode 11 -FINALE
or
Episode 8 -TBC
Episode 9 - ELIMINATION
Episode 10- ELIMINATION
Episode 11- FINALE
or
Episode 8 -ELIMINATION
Episode 9 - ELIMINATION
Episode 10- TBC
Episode 11-FINALE

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
This is what I've got:
Operating hours of macau tower for weekends:
9:00 am - 9:00 pm
>On that time, they can enter the macau tower and head upstairs.
But, the bungee jump operating hours is 10:00 am - 6:00 pm.
>So they have to wait for 10 am but "they were at the top already"..
Maybe Tisha and Goeff finished the bungee jump around 10:20 am.. So they can catch a helicopter around 10:30.. They can arrive at hongkong airport at 11 am..
Still have time to catch the 11:20 am flight..
Maybe, they were lucky to catch the flight....
:Effective January 2008
Heli Express provides helicopter shuttle services from 9:00a.m. to 11:00p.m. between Macau and Hong Kong with flights departing every 30 minutes, and as frequent as """""15 minutes during weekends and peak holidays"""".
Remember: It's weekends..
Flying time from macau to hongkong is approximately 16 mins.

Thanks for the information julsrum. But I guess a 20-minute before the take off to purchase a ticket and run through the immigration is not sufficient. They should be in Hong Kong Airport at least by 10:30 AM. :?:

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
This is the important time that we need to consider:
Tower open: 9.00 am to 9.00 pm
Bungy Jump start operates: 10.00 am
Heli Express: start 9.00am to 11.00pm, have flights departing every 30min (15min during peak holidays and weekends), journey will take 16min
Besides that, the service fare is $2,200 + $200 (surcharge during peak holidays and weekend) and passenger need to arrive at the passenger lounge at least 15min b4 flight time...
let say one team able to finish the bungy jump around 10.20... they may not able to catch up the 10.30 flight but instead the 10.45 flight... they will arrive in Hong Kong around 11.00... is there sufficient time for them to catch the 11.20 flight...???
is there other shuttle services other than Heli Express...???
where will they board the heli in Macau and arrive in HK... is it at the airport...???
what if the helicopter is charted instead of shuttle services...??? if charted, they may have possibilities the helicopter is in India... not 100% in HK... could be...???

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
Al-Hafyz, welcome to the forum. We are happy to see you sharing your ideas.
With your explanation and Jon's, we can tell there is a very very slim chance Geoff and Tisha could catch up the 11:20 flight Cathay Pacific to Singapore from Hong Kong, if the first task which is bungee jumping starts only by 10 AM on the same day. Besides, almost 2,000 HK dollars is too much for a racer to sacrifice in the start of the leg.
But I also don't agree the helicopter ride is in India because it is very clear from the voice over that "the helicopter was used as a mode of transportation of one team". In India, there is no way you could ride a commercial helicopter. But you can do it in Macau.
With that explanation above, Macau is the only possible answer. But if it is Macau, it is impossible for Geoff and Tisha to make the 11:20 flight in Hong Kong. So we have to meet these points in the center.
Jon pointed out in his post that May 31, 2008 was assumed as an extended pitstop so we have to pull out this assumption. We therefore conclude that May 31 is not an extra day off for the racers but another very busy day of racing around Macau.
So I will vote that the bungee jumping we have seen in the preview was done in May 31 and the helicopter ride was done around 9 am of June 1, 2008 giving Geoff and Tisha enough time to catch up the 11:20 Am flight to Singapore.
There are tasks in May 31 that was continued in June 1 before the racers left for India via Hong Kong and Singapore.
So we have to find out explanations that could have hindered the racers from going out of Macau in the evening of May 31 other than hours of operation. Why would they spend overnight in Macau?

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
This is not a spoiler but so far we saw these Singha commercials. There's no pattern.
episode 1: Ida & Tania's Moments of Banter.
2: Natalie & Pailin
3: Neena & Amit
4: Neena & Amit
5: A.D. & Fuzzie
6: Mai & Oliver
7: Kapil & Niroo
8: ?
So the final 3 are:
Geoff & Tisha
Sam & Vince
Bernie & Henry
Hmm.

Okay so that "long leg" McKay was saying is not a TBC but long distance travel from Macau to Hong Kong to Singapore to India. It's indeed a pretty long leg.
Re: Banter moments with Singha, those three teams are also my final 3 if we base it on physical ability and determination.
I really guess they're the Top 3.

We have Banzai.
LOL.
Seriously, we now know the answer of this line
Do you think there's still quite a ways too in India?
But of course, there are just some moments when I just gotta let my hair down and make the most of my time during the race...
LOL.
Seriously, we now know the answer of this line
it was great to see how much Tania and Ida showed how much they still
wanted to stay in the race at the pit stop. When you've made it this
far, you might as well go as far as you can go. And believe
me...there's still quite a ways too!

The Amazing Race Asia 3 had six official sponsors, they are Caltex, MASkargo, Nokia, Singha, Sony and Standard Chartered Bank.

They're based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
I just saw a MASkargo commercial in the last episode. They might have to do a MASkargo task in this leg. Caltex already sponsored the last leg. I don't know if Sony wants to advertise in India.

So we went to the viewing mall to study instead. When we reached there we saw celebrities!!! We saw allan wu and his wife and childen. Phoebe was admiring them and called them the perfect family. Quite true, the father was playing with the kids while the mother was sitting down laughing at them.

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
Avalanche said:
I guess the bungee jumping is too early for a roadblock. And we have seen them doing a roadblock in this same landmark with the mast last leg. They won't repeat it.
The reason of another extra or additional task in Macau Tower is to equalize the teams. This is designed for whoever checked in last in this NEL who happen to be Ida and Tania
> I would still prefer that bungee jump is a roadblock..
My explanation are:
1. Tisha did the bungee jump because she has only 2 roadblocks made while Geoff has 4. If this a additional task, Goeff will do it because Tisha will be afraid to do it.
2. Bernie did the bungee jump. Henry can't do physical activities because Henry undergo in an operation on his mouth. That's why Bernie was the one doing the physical activites like in Banana plantation in Thailand were there was snipers and last episode, climbing to the top of macau tower.
3. They can still do a roadblock in a same landmark. We all know that there's a lot of activities in macau tower that's why the producers would prefer to do some of these like bungee jump as a roadblock.
4. In TAR allstars leg 11, after the 4 teams depart in hongkong, they were told to go to macau tower. No additional task performed and it was a roadlock.. "Eric and Danielle were both mark for an elimination(3omin. penalty)".

Re: Episode 8 of TARA 3 - Spoilers and Speculations
it was great to see how much Tania and Ida showed how much they still
wanted to stay in the race at the pit stop. When you've made it this
far, you might as well go as far as you can go. And believe
me...there's still quite a ways too!
maybe there's still quite a ways to India...
1. Hong Kong airport --> Singapore airport --> Cochin (We already
knew that Geoff & Tisha used this option) will take 11-12 hours...
2. Macau airport --> Cochin
But there are other possibilities... In Macau, people there have 4
different airport options... there first two I have mention above....
the other two are
3. Zuhai airport
4. Shenzhen airport
Maybe there are flight from these airports to Cochin... who knows... :?: :?: :?:
